About Jasmin Hallowell LMSW, Anxiety & OCD Therapist
Serving Clients in St. Louis & Across Missouri
I often find myself saying YES to all of the things; going and going like the energizer bunny. I want to be there for everyone: my family, friends, and that person I haven’t spoken to in years. Although I feel the pull to overextend myself, I also know that I am an introverted person who needs to balance socializing with alone time as well. Through my work and life experiences, I have learned how to honor my values of family and being dependable, while also finding ways to set boundaries, recharge, and cope with the stressors that inevitably come with living a meaningful life.
I enjoy working with adults who find it difficult to relax, who experience a barrage of thoughts about what they have to do tomorrow, what they said at work today, and that thing they have to coordinate 3 weeks from now. They know that they’re exhausted, overwhelmed, and frustrated; but once it's time to relax they find it difficult to quiet their thoughts and find inner peace and harmony. They can take it out on themselves, feeling like they could/should/would be doing more/better/etc. They may feel stuck in these patterns because it was adaptive for them at some point in the past, despite the distress they feel. I know first hand that change is hard and trying something new can feel scary. I am here to help clients navigate change and make perspective shifts that fits their unique experience. It's a joy to help clients find more beneficial ways of relating to their anxious thoughts, find where and how to set boundaries, and ultimately step into their power.
I specialize in treating clients with anxiety related disorders, depression, life stressors/changes, and I am proudly LGBTQ+ affirming. Clients have described me as calm, non-judgmental, and compassionate. I will meet you where you are and will be by your side as we tackle things together from a person-centered, trauma-informed approach. Together we can unpack these experiences and patterns you may be stuck in to start to change the way you think and feel.
It can be difficult to see your own relationship patterns and feel ready to take the plunge to embrace change. The first step is to reach out, show up, and from there we can figure out the rest along the way! It is an honor to assist clients in gaining personal insight - recognizing why they might feel a certain way or feel triggered by a certain thing. Although I will assist you along the way, I will also ask that you do your part outside of sessions to practice strategies and new skills. If you are wanting to make a change and need guidance from someone who is warm and understanding, I would love to chat and find out how I can support you in your goals.
